System Wiring
- Disconnect wiring connector from electronic control unit. Using a self-powered test light, proceed as follows:
- With ignition off, turn cruise control switch to "ON" position. Connect test light between each terminal of connector and ground.
- Light should not illuminate on any terminals. If light illuminates on any terminal, check fuse block and/or Black 29-pin connector.NOTE: The following tests are performed with ignition switch and control switch in the "ON" position.
- Connect test light between ground and each terminal of connector. Light should illuminate only on terminals No. 1, No. 4 and No. 9. If light does not illuminate as described, check fuse No. 8, wiring, vacuum pump and switch.
- Connect test light between terminal No. 1 and No. 8. Test light should illuminate. If not, check ground connection to control unit.
- Connect test light between terminal No. 1 and No. 3. Test light should illuminate. Depress brake or clutch pedal. Test light should not illuminate. If test light does illuminate as described, check pedal contacts, pedal adjustments and ground lead.
- Connect test light between terminals No. 2 and ground. A click should be heard in cruise control relay. Move control switch to "SET" position. Test light should illuminate. If described results do not occur, check relay, switch and wiring.
- Connect a test light between terminal No. 6 and ground. Move control switch to "RESUME" position. Test light should illuminate. If not, check switch and wiring.
- Using a jumper lead, connect terminal No. 7 to ground. A click should be heard from vacuum pump. Connect another jumper lead between terminal No. 4 and ground. Vacuum pump should begin to operate. If not, check vacuum pump, wiring and/or terminals No. 17 and No. 18 of Black 29-pin connector.
