DTC P0335: Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Circuit
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CKP sensor. Use DVOM to measure resistance between CKP sensor connector terminals No. 1 (Yellow wire) and 2 (Black wire). See Figure . If reading is between 485-595 ohms, go to next step. If reading is not as specified, replace CKP sensor and go to step 7 . See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article.
- Use DVOM to measure resistance between CKP sensor terminals No. 1 (Yellow wire) and 3 (Black wire). CKP sensor resistance should be infinite. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace CKP sensor and go to step 7 .
- Visually check mounting of CKP sensor. Ensure sensor tip is not covered with metal filings or other debris. Ensure perforated ring is firmly secured to crankshaft. Repair as necessary. If sensor is okay, go to next step.
- Connect SST 86 11 857 test light (or equivalent) between CKP sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 and battery positive terminal. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair faulty circuit between CKP sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 and crimped connector J31 (Black wire) located about 2" from ECM harness connector. ECM is next to glove box on right side. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to step 7 .
- Connect test light between CKP sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 and battery positive terminal. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair faulty circuit between CKP sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 and crimped connector J31 (Black wire). Go to step 7 .
- Check for faulty circuit between CKP sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 41 (Yellow wire). See Figure for ECM terminal identification. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, replace CKP sensor. Go to next step.
- Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Drive vehicle for 5 minutes under varying loads and engine RPM. Recheck for any stored DTCs. If DTC P0335 is present, substitute known good ECM and retest system. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article.
