Testing & Repair Procedure
Following check list of procedures is suggested to be followed to ensure correct diagnosis and repair:
- Record Customer Complaint
Ensure all customer complaints or observations are recorded. Test drive vehicle with customer when necessary to verify malfunction. - Retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
Connect TECH 2 scan tool to DLC. Retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . - Visual Inspection
Inspect all connectors of suspect circuits or components. Ensure all connections are clean and tight. - Confirm Symptoms & DTCs
Perform road test. Determine if original symptoms are still present. Retrieve DTCs. - Diagnose & Repair DTCs
Perform diagnosis and repair procedures as needed. See applicable DIAGNOSTIC TESTS . If no codes are present, proceed to TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article for diagnosis by symptom (i.e., rough idle, no start, etc.). - Confirmation Procedure
After repairs have been completed, clear all DTCs. See CLEARING DTCS . Perform road test. Confirm that no DTCs are present and all symptoms and/or complaints have been repaired.
