WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
PCM turns on Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL).
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks for proper output of ignition system. If voltmeter reads 0.5-2.8 volts, ignition control module is receiving pick-up coil signal and is producing reference pulses.
- Checks for proper ground at PCM and ignition control module.
- Checks for reference pulses on circuit No. 430 from ignition control module to PCM. If PCM terminal No. 1D8 has 0.5-2.8 volts, PCM is receiving reference pulses.
- Checks ignition control module operation. If ignition control module will produce spark, then pick-up coil and ignition control module are okay.
