Removal & Installation (3.5L)

NOTE: Ignition control module and ignition coil can not be serviced separately. Replace module and coil as an assembly.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove fuel injector sight shield. Connect ignition control module harness connector. Lift at end opposite ignition control module to release clip retainer from ball pin on coil cassette. Slide cover out of slide latch in module. Remove 4 ignition control module-to-coil cassette mounting screws. Lift module straight up off cassette. Ensure mating connector and seal came off with module. If mating connector and seal did not come off with module, remove connector and seal from cassette.
  2. To install, ensure mating connector and seal are removed from coil cassette. If installing a NEW ignition control module, insert mating connector into module, install seal and apply dielectric to terminals on mating connector prior to installing in cassette. Ensure all harness connector terminals are okay. Clean all mounting surfaces before reinstalling components.
  3. Install ignition control module onto coil cassette. Install 4 ignition control module-to-coil cassette mounting screws. Tighten screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install beauty cover. Slide latch tongue into module while holding opposite end slightly away from coil cassette surface to clear and align ball pin on cassette with clip retainer on cover. Press clip retainer down onto ball pin. Connect ignition control module harness connector.
