Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Connect scan tool, and command shifter unlock solenoid OFF while monitoring feedback. If shifter unlock feedback does not read LOW, condition is intermittent. See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If shifter unlock feedback reads LOW, check for an open BTSI fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect BTSI solenoid. Connect test light between BTSI feed circuit (Yellow wire) and BTSI control circuit (Tan/White wire) at solenoid. Using scan tool, command shifter unlock solenoid OFF. If test light is on, check control circuit (Tan/White wire) for short to ground or faulty BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If test light is not on, go to next step.
  3. With scan tool connected, determine if feedback is HIGH. If so, check for poor connections at BCM or faulty BCM. If feedback is not HIGH, connect test light between ground and solenoid feed circuit (Yellow wire). Is test light on? If so, go to step  5 . If not, go to next step.
  4. Repair open in BTSI feed circuit (Yellow wire) to solenoid.
  5. Repair open in BTSI control circuit (Tan/White wire) between BCM and solenoid. If no open was found, replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. After repairs, retest system operation.
