Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. 2:  Confirm if the scan tool can turn on and off all the indicator lamps in the instrument cluster.
  1. 4:  Verify if the circuits going to the instrument Cluster or the cluster is at fault.

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - ABS 
  1. Using a scan tool, select the Body Control Module Special Functions mode.
  2. Select Chassis Data Displays Test in Output Control.
  3. In the Displays Test mode you can turn the TRAC OFF Switch LED indicator on or off.

    All indicators will turn ON when commanded ON.

Does the TRAC OFF Switch LED Indicator turn on?
Go to Step 4  Go to Step 3

  1. Using a scan tool, select the BCM Data Display mode.
  2. Select Chassis Data Display.
  3. In the Displays Test mode, monitor the TRAC LED indicator.

    Press the TRAC switch. The LED should change states.

Does the scan tool display ON with TRAC switch pressed?
Go to Step 8  Go to Step 7 
Measure the voltage at the TRAC switch between terminal D and ground.
Is voltage present?
Go to Step 6  Go to Step 5 
5 Test the traction control switch signal circuit for an open.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  -
6 Activate the TRAC OFF switch, switch activated.
Measure the voltage at the TRAC switch between terminal A and ground.
Is voltage present?
Go to Diagnostic Aids Go to Step 10 
7 Test the traction control switch ground circuit for an open.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 11 
8 Measure the voltage at the TRAC switch between terminal C and ground.
Is voltage present?
Go to Step 10  Go to Step 9 
9 Test the traction control indicator control circuit for an open or short to ground.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  -
10 Replace the traction control switch. Refer to Traction Control Switch Replacement  in Body Control System.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  -
11 Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
Is the replacement complete?
Go to Step 12  -
12 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 2
