Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECM - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the E5 connector from the ECM
    2. Turn the ignition switch on the ON position.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      WIRE HARNESS STANDARD VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E5-21 (D) - Body ground Clutch pedal depressed Below 1 V
      E5-21 (D) - Body ground Clutch pedal released 10 to 14 V

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. INSPECT CLUTCH SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the C9 clutch switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      CLUTCH SWITCH ASSEMBLY STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1-2 Switch pin free (Clutch pedal depressed) 10 kΩ or higher
      1-2 Switch pin pushed in (Clutch pedal depressed) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE CLUTCH SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CLUTCH SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      WIRE HARNESS STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C9-2 (D) - E5-21 (D) Always Below 1 Ω
      E5-21 (D) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLUTCH SWITCH - BATTERY)
