Inspection Procedure
- CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the tester on.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Trouble Codes.
- Read DTCs.
Result:Result Proceed to P0607 and P0136, P0137 or P0138 A P0607 B B: CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
- If P0136 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first. Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0137 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first. Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0138 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first. Then proceed to step 6.
HINT:
If P0607 and P0136, P0137 or P0138 are output, the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor may remain close to 0 V or become high (around 1 V or more).
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
- Allow the engine to idle and rev the engine.
- Check for exhaust gas leak around the heated oxygen sensor.
If any exhaust gas leaks are present, repair it and proceed to step 4. If no exhaust gas leaks are present, proceed to step 4.
HINT:
- If no exhaust gas leaks are present, a malfunction in the heated oxygen sensor circuit is suspected.
- If any exhaust gas leaks are present around the heated oxygen sensor, noise appears in the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor.
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
- Clear DTCs.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature becomes 75 °C (167 °F) or more.
- Perform the driving pattern.
- Accelerate the vehicle until 80 km/h (50 mph) and stop the vehicle.
- Drive the vehicle by 60 to 80 km/h (35 to 50 mph) for 5 minutes or more.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Trouble Codes.
- Read DTCs.Result:
Result Proceed to P0136, P0137, P0138 and / or P0607 A P0607 B No output C C: Go to Step 6
D: REPLACE ECM
- INSPECT DTC (P0136, P0137 OR P0138)
- Inspect the P0136, P0137 or P0138 flow chart.
HINT:
- If P0136 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first DTC P0136 . Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0137 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first DTC P0137 . Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0138 is out put, troubleshoot for that DTC first DTC P0138 . Then proceed to step 6.
- If P0607 and P0136, P0137 or P0138 are output, the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor may remain close to 0 V or become high (around 1 V or more).
- Inspect the P0136, P0137 or P0138 flow chart.
- INSPECT ECM
- Clear DTCs.
- Stop the engine and wait for 30 minutes.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Start the engine and allow it to idle for 2 minutes.
- Turn the tester on.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ETC / Trouble Codes.
- Read DTCs.Result:
Result Proceed to P0607 A No output B B: END
A: REPLACE ECM
