How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT: 

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS 
    1. Confirm the problem symptoms. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 
    1. Measure the voltage of the battery.

      Standard voltage

      11 to 14 V

      If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

    2. Using the Techstream, inspect battery voltage reduction history by reading "Battery Voltage Lo Record" in the Data List. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA* 
    1. Record DTCs and freeze frame data.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. CLEAR DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA* 
    1. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. PROBLEM SYMPTOM CONFIRMATION 

    Result

    Result Proceed to
    Symptom does not occur A
    Symptom occurs B

    B → Go to step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. SYMPTOM SIMULATION 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication system DTC is not output A
      CAN communication system DTC is output B

      HINT: 

      • If any DTCs of the CAN communication system are output, perform troubleshooting on the CAN communication system first.
      • If communication with the power steering ECU cannot be established through the Techstream, inspect terminals CANH and CANL of the DLC3 and the power steering ECU, and the IG circuit of the power steering ECU.

      B → PROCEED TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 

      A: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      HINT: 

      Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart when any DTCs are output. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .

      DTC is output B

      B → Go to step   11 

      A: Go to next step 

  10. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
