DTC P0715: Input / Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction; DTC P0717: Input Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal: Procedure

  1. INSPECT SPEED SENSOR NT INSTALLATION 
    1. Make sure that the connector is properly connected, and then check the speed sensor installation.

      OK

      The installation bolts are tightened properly and there is no clearance between the sensor and transaxle case.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.

    2. Remove the TCM.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      NTB speed sensor side - 1 (NTB) TCM side Always Below 1 Ω
      NTO speed sensor side - 2 (NTO) TCM side Always Below 1 Ω
      NTB speed sensor side - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      NTO speed sensor side - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      NTB speed sensor side - All other terminals except 1 (NTB) TCM side Always 10 kΩ or higher
      NTO speed sensor side - All other terminals except 2 (NTO) TCM side Always 10 kΩ or higher

      *1 Transmission Wire
      *a Speed Sensor Side
      *b TCM Side

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. REPLACE SPEED SENSOR NT (SPEED SENSOR) 
    1. Replace the speed sensor. Refer to REMOVAL .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0715 OR P0717) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes / Clear.

      HINT: 

      Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

    5. Perform the monitor drive pattern. Refer to MONITOR DRIVE PATTERN .
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.
    7. Read the DTCs using the Techstream.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Only P0715 or P0717 is output A
      DTCs are not output B

    B → END

  5. REPLACE TCM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. SECURELY INSTALL OR REPLACE SPEED SENSOR NT. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL
