DTC C1516: Torque Sensor Zero Point Adjustment Incomplete; DTC C1526: Rotation Angle Sensor Initialization Incomplete: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration once. A
      Normal system code is output. B

    B → END 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point again. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration twice. A
      Normal system code is output. B

    B → END 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point again. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  9. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times. A
      Normal system code is output. B

      HINT: 

      Replace the power steering ECU if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times.

    B → END 

    A: Go to next step 

  10. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU 
    1. Replace the power steering ECU. Refer to REMOVAL .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  11. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  12. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  13. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration once. A
      Normal system code is output. B

    B → END 

    A: Go to next step 

  14. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  15. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point again. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  16. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration twice. A
      Normal system code is output. B

  17. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  18. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point again. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  19. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times. A
      Normal system code is output. B

      HINT: 

      Replace the steering column assembly if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times.

      NOTE:

      If replacing the steering column assembly, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to CALIBRATION .

  20. REPLACE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
