Task
The windshield reading system control unit is the master control unit of the car2go system with code P02 (car2go) and the rental system with code 54P (Line package rental model). It is used for radio communication (Global System Mobile (GSM)) for transmitting customer authorization, rental and billing data to the car2go or rental company head office. It reads in the authorization data of the customer card outside the vehicle during the rental process by means of Near Field Communication (NFC). The output of information to the customer outside the vehicle during the rental process takes place via the integrated display on the windshield or via the car2go app on the customer's smartphone. The windshield reader system control unit is at the same time the interface for the card reader (A50/5) in the vehicle. The windshield reader system control unit is also used for exchanging audio support communication between the customer and the car2go or rental company head office, and is therefore the interface to the smart Radio Multimedia Navigator (A40/3 and its hands-free system. The windshield reader system control unit tasks are broken down as follows:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Component actuation and signal transmission
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Global Positioning System (GPS)
- Near Field Communication (NFC)
- Global System Mobile (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS)
- Direct line
- car2go LIN (LIN A1)
- Telematics CAN (CAN A)
Global Positioning System (GPS)
The following signals are read in using GPS:
- Vehicle position
Near Field Communication (NFC)
The following signals are read in via NFC:
- Customer authorization and drive authorization data
Global System Mobile (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS)
The following signals are read in via GSM or UMTS
- Data for communication with car2go or rental company head office and approval of the rental process, etc. through the integrated GSM/UMTS antenna (A2/24)
- Authorization and drive authorization data from customer's smartphone via the car2go app
Direct line
The signals from the following sensors are read in via direct lines:
- USB signal from the Smart Radio Multimedia Navigator
- Audio signals from the Smart Radio Multimedia Navigator
- Wake-up signal from the telematics services communications module (N112/2)
- Circuit 30g from the vehicle interior fuse and relay module (F2)
- Circuit 31
car2go LIN
The following signals are read in via car2go LIN:
- Key identification and status of transmitter key and fuel card in card reader holder, authorization and drive authorization data from card reader
Telematics CAN
The following signals are read in via the telematics CAN, for example:
- Vehicle data, kilometer reading, rental and parking times Wheel speed
- Central locking status
- Status of power windows
- Fuel tank fill level
- Battery charge level
- Engine status on/off
- GPS position
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor of the windshield reader system control unit and the relevant component parts are then actuated.
Component actuation and signal transmission
Component actuation and signal transmission take place via the following connections:
- GSM and UMTS
- Direct line
- Telematics CAN
- car2go LIN
GSM and UMTS
The following signals are transmitted via GSM/UMTS, for example:
- Customer authorization and billing data to car2go or rental company head office (kilometer reading, rental times, parking times, fuel tank and battery fill level vehicle data) through the GSM/UMTS antenna
Direct line
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Wake-up signal to the telematics services communications module
- Audio line to the Smart Radio Multimedia Navigator
- USB signal to the Smart Radio Multimedia Navigator
Telematics CAN
The following signals are transmitted via the telematics CAN to the telematics services communications module and from there to other control units, for example:
- Authorization data such as car2go identification, car2go code, car2go request for opening/closing of the vehicle to the center SAM control unit (N10/10)
car2go LIN
The following signals are transmitted via the car2go LIN to the card reader (with key holder), for example:
- Authorization data such as rental or car2go code and request for release of the transmitter key and the fuel card
