Driver-Side SAM Control Unit, Component Description - GF54.21-P-7012KJ
MODEL 453.0/3/4
Shown on model 453.3
Location
The driver-side SAM control unit is located on the left side beneath the instrument panel.
Task
The driver-side SAM control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluating input factors
- Controlling functions
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in over the following connections:
- Direct line
- Battery sensor LIN (LIN B15) (except model 453.091/391/491)
- Rain/light sensor LIN (LIN B16)
- Drivetrain LIN (LIN C1) (except model 453.091/391/491)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:
- Start-stop button (S2/3) (with code B03 (ECO start/stop function))
- Combination switch (S4)
- Windshield wiper system switch (S4/4)
- Brake lights switch (S9/1)
Battery sensor LIN (except model 453.091/391/491)
The battery sensor (B95) signals (except model 453.091/391/491) are read in via battery sensor LIN.
Rain and light sensor LIN
The signals from the rain/light sensor (B38/2) are read in via the rain/light sensor LIN.
Drivetrain LIN (except model 453.091/391/491)
The alternator (G2) signals (except model 453.091/391/491) are read in via drivetrain LIN.
Interior CAN
The signals are read in from the driver-side SAM control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.
Controlling functions
The driver-side SAM control unit controls the following functions, amongst others:
- Energy management (except model 453.091/391/491)
- Exterior lights
- Windshield wiper system
- Automatic start/stop (except model 453.091/391/491)
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Drivetrain LIN (except model 453.091/391/491)
- Interior CAN
Direct line
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Left front lamp unit (E1)
- Right front lamp unit (E2)
- Left rear lamp unit (E3)
- Right rear lamp unit (E4)
- Left front fog lamp (E5/1) (vehicles with code V07 (Front fog lamp (FFO)))
- Right front fog lamp (E5/2) (vehicles with code V07 (Front fog lamp (FFO)))
- Center brake lamp (E21)
- Wiper motor (M6/1)
Drivetrain LIN (except model 453.091/391/491)
The alternator is actuated via the drive train LIN.
Interior CAN
The signals are transmitted from the driver-side SAM control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
