Cruise Control: Operation
- When activated, the cruise control system automatically governs the vehicle's speed. Cruise Control allows the vehicle to run at a constant speed without the driver needing to depress the accelerator pedal.
- When the driver activates the system and selects a desired speed, the cruise control module compares the vehicle's actual speed - which is detected by the speed sensor (MT) or by the automatic transmission control module (AT) - with a preset speed in memory. The module then generates a signal according to the difference between the 2 speeds. This signal is transmitted to the actuator, which is located in the engine compartment. To maintain the vehicle's preset speed, the actuator (located in the engine compartment) operates the throttle cam as necessary.
