Drive Patterns: Operation

There are 3 drive patterns for trouble diagnosis. Driving in specified pattern allows to diagnose malfunctioning items. After malfunctioning items are repaired, always check whether they correctly resume their functions by driving in required drive pattern. See Fig 1 .

NOTE: Except for water temperature specified items at starting, diagnosis is carried out after engine warm up. Carry out diagnosis which is marked with an asterisk on DTC twice, then, after finishing first diagnosis, stop engine and do second time at same condition. See Fig 2 .

1. Preparation For Drive Cycle

   • Ensure that fuel remains approximately half tank, and battery voltage is 12 volts or greater.
   • After performing diagnostics and clearing memory, see CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  , check for any remaining unresolved trouble data.
   • Separate test mode connector.

2. After Running 20 Minutes At 50 MPH (80 Km/h)

   • Idle engine for 1 minute. Check items in Fig 2 .
3. Idle For 10 Minutes
   
   
   NOTE: Before diagnosis, drive vehicle at 6 MPH (4 km/h) or greater.
   • Check items in Fig 3 .
4. Drive Pattern
   
   
   • Drive according to drive pattern. See Fig 1 .
   • Check items in Fig 4
