DTC P0336: Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance: Notes
DTC detecting condition:
Detected when two consecutive driving cycles with fault occur.
Trouble symptom:
- Engine stalls.
- Failure of engine to start
- CHECK CONDITION OF CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

Check installation condition of the crankshaft position sensor.
Is the crankshaft position sensor installation bolt tightened securely?
Yes: Go to 2
No: Tighten the crankshaft position sensor installation bolt securely. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (STI)>Crankshaft Position Sensor .
- CHECK CRANK SPROCKET
.
- Remove the timing belt cover. Ref. to MECHANICAL(STI)>Timing Belt Cover>REMOVAL .
- Check the crank sprocket.
Are crank sprocket teeth cracked or damaged?
Yes: Replace the crank sprocket. Ref. to MECHANICAL(STI)>Crank Sprocket .
No: Go to 3
- CHECK INSTALLATION CONDITION OF TIMING BELT
.
Turn the crankshaft, and align alignment mark on crank sprocket with alignment mark on cylinder block.

Is the timing belt dislocated from its proper position?
Yes: Repair the installation condition of timing belt. Ref. to MECHANICAL(STI)>Timing Belt .
No: Replace the crankshaft position sensor. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (STI)>Crankshaft Position Sensor .
