DTC P26A5: Engine Coolant Bypass Valve "A" Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance: Notes

DTC detecting condition:
Detected when two consecutive driving cycles with fault occur.
Trouble symptom:
- Coolant temperature rises slowly
- Poor acceleration
NOTE: After the faulty parts are repaired or replaced, perform the final check in Basic Diagnostic Procedure. Refer to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO)>Basic Diagnostic Procedure>PROCEDURE .
- CHECK DTC
.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor or a general scan tool, read the DTC of [Engine]. Refer to COMMON (DIAG)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
.
Is DTC other than P26A5 displayed? (Current malfunction)
Yes : Check the appropriate DTC using the "Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Refer to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)>LIST .
No : Go to 2.
- CHECK THERMO-CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY OPENING ANGLE SENSOR
.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor or a general scan tool, perform the clear memory of [Engine]. Refer to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
- Start the engine and warm up completely.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait for at least 3 minutes.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Read the temporary code using the Subaru Select Monitor or general scan tool. Refer to COMMON (DIAG)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

Is DTC P26A5 displayed? (Temporary code)
Yes : Go to 3.
No : Even if DTC is detected, the thermo-control valve assembly has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
- CHECK THERMO-CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY OPENING ANGLE SENSOR
.
- Start the engine and warm up completely.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait for at least 3 minutes.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor or a general scan tool, read the DTC of [Engine]. Refer to COMMON (DIAG)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

Is DTC P26A5 displayed? (Past malfunction)
Yes : Replace the thermo-control valve assembly. Refer to COOLING(H4DO)>THERMO CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY .
No : Even if DTC is detected, the thermo-control valve assembly has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
