Engine Assembly: Installation

Install the engine mounting onto the engine.
Tightening torque:

35 N.m (3.6 kgf-m, 25.8 ft-lb)
Apply a small amount of grease to splines of main shaft. (MT model)
Grease:

NICHIMOLY N-130 or equivalent
Position the engine in engine compartment and align it with transmission.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage adjacent parts or body panels with crank pulley, oil level gauge, etc.

Install the bolts which hold upper side of transmission to engine.

Tightening torque:

50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 36.9 ft-lb)

Remove the lifting device and wire ropes.

Remove the garage jack.
Remove the cushioning material between pitching stopper bracket and transmission case cover. (CVT model)
Install the clip (B) to the pitching stopper bracket, and then install the air breather hose to the clip (B). (CVT model)
Install the bolt (A) which secures the transmission harness stay to the CVT. (CVT model)
Tightening torque:

16 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.8 ft-lb)

Install the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) to the CVT. (CVT model)

Temporarily tighten the upper bolt which secures the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) to the CVT.

Using clip (A), fix the bulkhead harness to the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature).

Lift up the vehicle.

Install the lower bolt which secures CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) to the CVT.

Tightening torque:

23 N.m (2.3 kgf-m, 17.0 ft-lb)

Lower the vehicle.

Tighten the upper bolt which secures the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) to the CVT.

Tightening torque:

23 N.m (2.3 kgf-m, 17.0 ft-lb)

Install the torque converter assembly to the drive plate. (CVT model)

Remove the ST from converter case.

NOTE: Be careful not to drop the ST into the converter housing when removing the ST.

STOPPER SET

Insert the wrench into the crank pulley bolt, and rotate the crank pulley to attach the four bolts securing the torque converter assembly to the drive plate.

NOTE: Be careful not to drop bolts into the converter housing.

Tightening torque:

25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb)

Fit the plug to service hole.

Install the starter. Refer to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS(W/O STI)>STARTER>INSTALLATION .
Lift up the vehicle.

Install the bolts and nuts which hold lower side of the transmission to engine.

Tightening torque:

50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 36.9 ft-lb)

Install the nuts which hold the engine mounting to the front crossmember.
NOTE:
- Make sure that locators (a) of the engine mounting are securely inserted.
- Use a new nut.
Tightening torque:

60 N.m (6.1 kgf-m, 44.3 ft-lb)

Connect the ground cable to the oil pipe assembly.
Tightening torque:

7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

Set the transmission jack to the transmission. (CVT model)
NOTE: Be careful that the support plate of transmission jack does not touch the transmission oil pan.
Remove the ST and install the rear crossmember. (CVT model)

Tightening torque:

T1: 18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.3 ft-lb)

T2: 35 N.m (3.6 kgf-m, 25.8 ft-lb)

T3: 70 N.m (7.1 kgf-m, 51.6 ft-lb)

Remove the transmission jack. (CVT model)
Install the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST(W/O STI)>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>INSTALLATION .
Install the pitching stopper.
Tightening torque:

T1: 50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 36.9 ft-lb)

T2: 58 N.m (5.9 kgf-m, 42.8 ft-lb)

Connect the fuel delivery tube and evaporation hose.

Connect the evaporation hose to fuel pipe assembly.

Connect the quick connector on the fuel delivery tube to the fuel pipe assembly, and fix the fuel delivery tube using clip (A).

CAUTION:

Check that there is no damage or dust on the quick connector. If necessary, clean the seal surface of the pipe.
When connecting the quick connector, make sure to insert it all the way in before locking the slider.
When it is difficult to lock the slider, check that the connector is fully inserted.
After locking the slider, pull the quick connector itself to the disconnecting direction, and then push to the connecting direction in order to confirm secure connection. Make sure to end this check with a pushing step.

NOTE: Connect the quick connector as shown in the figure.

Connect the engine coolant inlet hose and engine coolant outlet hose to the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) and EGR cooler. (CVT model)

Connect the heater inlet hose (A) to the water pipe assembly, and connect the heater outlet hose (B) to the water pipe LH.
NOTE: Be careful not to mix up the heater inlet hose and the heater outlet hose when connecting them.

Connect the hose - pressure suction and the hose - pressure discharge to the A/C compressor. Refer to HVAC SYSTEM (HEATER, VENTILATOR AND A/C)>HOSE AND PIPE>INSTALLATION .
Set the generator cord, and fix the generator cord to the fuel pipe protector using clip (C).
Install the generator cord to clip (B), and connect the connector (A) to A/C compressor.

Using clip (D), fix the generator cord to the generator cord stay, and connect the connector (B) and the terminal (C) to the generator.
Tightening torque:

15.5 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.4 ft-lb)
Connect the connector (A) to the brake vacuum pump.

Install the brake booster vacuum hose to the clip (D).
NOTE: If the clip is removed from the intake manifold, install the clip to the position of alignment mark of intake manifold.
Connect sections (A) and (B) of the brake booster vacuum hose to the brake vacuum pump and intake manifold, and install the brake booster vacuum hose to the clip (C).

Install the radiator. Refer to COOLING(W/O STI)>RADIATOR>INSTALLATION .
Install the intake duct No. 1 and intake duct No. 2. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (W/O STI)>INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION>INTAKE DUCT NO. 1 . Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (W/O STI)>INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION>INTAKE DUCT NO. 2 .
Install the ECM. Refer to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (W/O STI)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)>INSTALLATION .
Install the intercooler. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (W/O STI)>INTERCOOLER>INSTALLATION .
Install the air intake duct. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (W/O STI)>AIR INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION .
Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Refer to NOTE>NOTE>BATTERY .
Charge the A/C system with refrigerant. Refer to HVAC SYSTEM (HEATER, VENTILATOR AND A/C)>REFRIGERANT CHARGING PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
Fill engine coolant. Refer to COOLING(W/O STI)>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
Install the collector cover. Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (W/O STI)>COLLECTOR COVER>INSTALLATION .
Set the front hood to the normal position. Refer to NOTE>NOTE>FRONT HOOD GAS STAY .
Install the striker - front hood. Refer to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>FRONT HOOD>ASSEMBLY .
Close the front hood.
