DTC P100A: AVCS System Stuck: Notes

DTC detecting condition:

Immediately at fault recognition

Trouble symptom:

Engine stall
Improper idling
Poor acceleration

NOTE: After the faulty parts are repaired or replaced, perform the final check in Basic Diagnostic Procedure. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .

CHECK DTC .
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor or a general scan tool, read the DTC of [Engine]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC P000A, P000B, P000C, P000D, P0011, P0014, P0021 or P0024 displayed? (Current code)

Yes: Check the appropriate DTC using the "Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

No: Go to 2.
CHECK DTC .
1. Start the engine and warm up fully until the engine oil temperature reaches 80°C (176°F) or more.
2. Perform the inspection mode T. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>INSPECTION MODE .
  WARNING: When performing inspection mode on a public road, pay sufficient attention to the traffic condition and give the highest priority to safe driving.
3. Using the Subaru Select Monitor or a general scan tool, read the DTC of [Engine]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC P100A displayed? (Current code)

Yes: Go to 4.

No: Go to 3.
CHECK DTC .
Using the Subaru Select Monitor or a general scan tool, read the DTC of [Engine]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is DTC P000A, P000B, P000C, P000D, P0011, P0014, P0021 or P0024 displayed? (Current code)

Yes: Check the appropriate DTC using the "Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST .

No: End.
CHECK DATA MONITOR .
1. Perform the inspection mode T. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DOTC)>INSPECTION MODE .
  WARNING: When performing inspection mode on a public road, pay sufficient attention to the traffic condition and give the highest priority to safe driving.
2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read the value described below.
  - Intake side RH: [VVT Advance Target Angle Amount R], [VVT Adv. Ang. Amount R]
  - Intake side LH: [VVT Advance Target Angle Amount L], [VVT Adv. Ang. Amount L]
  - Exhaust side RH: [Ex VVT Retard Target Angle R], [Exh. VVT Retard Ang. R]
  - Exhaust side LH: [Ex VVT Retard Target Angle L], [Exh. VVT Retard Ang. L]
  NOTE:
  - For detailed operation procedures, refer to "COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)". Ref. to COMMON (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
  - Use of the data storage function of Subaru Select Monitor allows the data during driving to be stored. The stored data can be checked after the driving.
Compare the VVT Advance Target Angle Amount (Ex VVT Retard Target Angle) value and the VVT Adv. Ang. Amount (Exh. VVT Retard Angle) value. Are there any banks that have a difference of 10 degrees or more for 3 seconds or more?

Yes: Perform the diagnosis for the bank that does not synchronize.
No: Go to 5.

Read the data saved in step 4.

- Intake side LH: [VVT Advance Target Angle Amount L], [VVT Adv. Ang. Amount L]

Are there any banks whose VVT Adv. Ang. Amount (Exh. VVT Retard Angle) value have a difference of 10 degrees or more against the VVT Advance Target Angle Amount (Ex VVT Retard Target Angle) value?

Yes: Perform the diagnosis for the banks that have a difference.
No: End.
