Fuel Pump Circuit

Turn ignition on, leave engine off. Fuel pump should operate for 2 seconds. If fuel pump does not operate, check fuses, fuel pump control relay, fuel pump, all electrical connections and ECM. See I - SYS/COMP TESTS article.

NOTE: Fuel pump performance is a measurement of fuel pressure availability, not regulated pressure.
FUEL PUMP PERFORMANCE

DOHC (2) 35.5-38.4 (2.5-2.7)
SOHC (3) 22.7-29.9 (1.6-2.1)
(1) Specification is listed with ignition on and engine off.
(2) Pressure should remain at 25.6 psi (1.8 kg/cm2 ) for one minute after fuel pump is turned off.
(3) Pressure should remain at 12.8 psi (.9 kg/cm2 ) for one minute after fuel pump is turned off.
REGULATED FUEL PRESSURE
