Idle Speed & Ignition Timing

Ensure idle speed and base ignition timing are set to specification. Refer to the IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  table and the IGNITION TIMING  table below in this article. Also, if necessary, refer to the ADJUSTMENTS - 1.3L SOHC article in this section.

IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS (1)

Application Idle RPM
With A/C Off
Auto. Transaxle 800-900
Man. Transaxle 700-800
With A/C On
Auto. & Man. Transaxles 850-950
(1) Transaxle or transmission in Neutral or Park.
IGNITION TIMING (Degrees BTDC @ RPM)

Application Man. Trans. Auto. Trans.
SOHC (1) 4-6 @ 750 (1) 4-6 @ 850
(1) With jumper wire installed between "D" and "E" terminals of test connector, located near ignition coil
