Clutch is a single-disc type, using a diaphragm spring to engage pressure plate. On Esteem 1.6L and Swift, clutch is mechanically operated by clutch pedal, clutch cable, return spring, release fork and pre-lubricated release bearing. On Esteem 1.8L, clutch is hydraulically-controlled by master cylinder, release cylinder, release lever and pre-lubricated release bearing. On all models, clutch system incorporates a clutch pedal position switch that disables ignition and starter circuits unless clutch pedal is fully depressed.
