Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P0107 is set, go to next step. If DTC P0107 is not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0107, P0122 and P0450 are set, check for an open in Light/Green wire between PCM 16-pin connector C22 terminal No. 1 and MAP sensor connector terminal No. 3. See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P0107, P0122 and P0450 are not set and/or Light/Green wire is okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select MAP sensor parameter. If parameter reads 5 kPa or less, go to next step. If parameter reading is more than 5 kPa, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect MAP sensor connector. Check MAP sensor connector for poor connection. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If connection is okay, turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and MAP sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 (Light/Green wire) and No. 2 (Orange/Green wire), individually. Go to next step.
  5. If reading are 4-6 volts on both wires, go to next step. If readings are not 4-6 volts on either wire, check for open or short to ground in Light/Green wire between MAP sensor and PCM 16-pin connector C22 terminal No. 1, or Orange/Green wire between MAP sensor and PCM 16-pin connector C22 terminal No. 5. See Figure. If wires are okay, check for poor connection at PCM 16-pin harness connector C22. Repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If connection is okay, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
  6. Turn ignition off. Remove MAP sensor. Connect three 1.5 volt batteries in series. Ensure total battery output is 4.5-5 volts. Connect positive terminal of batteries to VOLTAGE IN terminal at MAP sensor. Connect negative terminal of batteries to GROUND terminal at MAP sensor. See Fig 1. Go to next step.
  7. Test MAP sensor operation. See SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. Replace MAP sensor as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If MAP sensor is okay, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
