Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the ignition lock cylinder solenoid.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit of the connector and ground.
- If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, shift selector in PARK then out of PARK, verify that a test lamp illuminates in PARK and does not illuminate out of PARK between the steering column key cylinder lock solenoid control circuit and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate properly, test the solenoid control and park switch ignition voltage circuits for a short to ground, open/high resistance or short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the park switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition lock cylinder solenoid.
