Center Console Assembly - Remove And Replace: Remove

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Tesla Model S, 2023 Tesla Model S, 2022 Tesla Model S, and 2021 Tesla Model S. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Open all the doors and open all the windows.
  2. Move the driver and front passenger seats fully forward.
  3. Remove the center console lower rear panel. See Panel - Lower Rear - Center Console (Remove And Replace) .
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH rear console carrier to the body.

    12 N.m (8.8 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm socket

  5. Move the driver and front passenger seats fully rearward.
  6. Release the clips (x4) that attach the phone dock to the center console.
    NOTE: Pull up at the bottom of the phone dock and swing out from under the center console.

  7. Release the clip, then disconnect the electrical connectors (x3), and then remove the phone dock from the instrument panel.
    CAUTION: Release the connector locks before pulling straight out of each socket to avoid damage.

  8. Remove the service panel from the instrument panel as an assembly. However, do not remove the cabin temperature sensor fan from the service panel assembly. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace) .
  9. Remove the LH and RH floor mats.
  10. Remove the LH and RH center console side panel carpets. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove And Replace) .
  11. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH toeboard lower bracket to the center console. Repeat this step for the RH bracket.

    10 N.m (7.4 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm socket

  12. Release the harness clips (x2), and then disconnect the center console electrical connectors (x4).

  13. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH console carrier center bracket.

    12 N.m (8.8 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm socket

  14. Recline the backrest for the driver and front passenger seats.
  15. With an assistant, remove the console assembly from the vehicle.
    NOTE: Lift at the rear of the center console, then rotate the front from under the instrument panel, and then remove the center console assembly through the front passenger door.
    NOTE: Do not to scratch the seats, instrument panel, or inner door panel.
