Module - Body Controller - Security - Remove and Replace: Install

  1. Install the screws (x2) that attach the security body controller module to the cup holder decor panel.

    1.6 N.m (1.2 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Torx T20 socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Wiha TorqueVario-S 0.80Nm - 2.0Nm
    • Wiha 1/4" Bit Holder Adapter

  2. Connect the electrical connector to the security body controller module.

  3. Attach the clips (x6) that attach the cup holder decor panel to the center console assembly.

  4. Install the RH bright strips: Start with the corner nearest to the IP carrier, and then continue towards the rear. Repeat this step on the LH bright strip.
  5. Install the screws (x7) that attach the RH bright strip to the center console assembly. Repeat this step on the LH bright strip.

    1.6 N.m (1.2 ft-lbs)

  6. Install the RH center console decor trim, and then repeat this step on the LH center console decor trim. See DECOR TRIM - CENTER CONSOLE - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
  7. Close the center console armrest.
  8. Reconnect 12V power, but do not install the rear underhood apron at this time. See 12V/LV POWER (DISCONNECT AND CONNECT) .
  9. Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See SOFTWARE REINSTALL - TOUCHSCREEN .
  10. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
    NOTE: Configuration changes from within Toolbox can only be performed by a Tesla employee at this time. Third parties must request the configuration change through their agreed Tesla technical support channel.
  11. In Toolbox, click the Dashboards  tab, and then type "VCSEC".
    NOTE: Toolbox will show the VCSEC Replacement  dashboard.
  12. For vehicles running firmware versions 2023.44 upto, but not including, 2024.8, select PROC_VCSEC_X_SET-ROOT-KEY-TO-ALL-REGIONS  , and then click Run  and allow the routine to complete.
  13. Select PROC_VCSEC_X_POST-REPLACEMENT-PROCEDURE  , and then click Run  and allow the routine to complete.
  14. Select PROC_VCSEC_C_PAIR-NFC-CARD-V2  , and then click Run  .
  15. Place the NFC card(s) on the NFC card reader in the center console.
  16. Input the number of keys to be paired to vehicle and select Run Network  , and allow the routine to complete.
  17. Check the function of the programmed NFC keys.
  18. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  19. Install the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD APRON - REAR (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
  20. Close the hood.
  21. Move the driver seat and front passenger seat fully forward.
  22. Install the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See SEAT CUSHION - LOWER - 2ND ROW (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
  23. Restore the driver seat and front passenger seat back to their original position.
  24. Inform the customer that the new security body controller will not recognize any previously paired phone key. The customer must delete and re-pair their phone key to the vehicle, if they were previously using this feature. Instructions are available in the Owners Manual, and at the DIY web pages.
