Air Injection System
- Check all hoses and connections. Disconnect air by-pass hose from air cleaner. If vehicle is equipped with HAC system, disconnect vacuum hose from lower port of HAC valve, and plug hose end.
- Check EACV with engine cold. With coolant temperature below 43°F (6°C), start engine and check that air is discharged from the air by-pass hose.
- Check EACV with engine warm including thermo switch (1) and (2) to EACV. Warm up engine to between 64°F (18°C) and 109°F (43°C). With engine idling, check that air is not discharged from air by-pass hose.
- Check EACV including oxygen sensor to EACV. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature. Maintain engine speed at 2000 RPM. Check that air is discharged intermittently from air by-pass hose.
- Check VCS, race engine and quickly close throttle valve. Check that air is discharged momentarily from the air by-pass hose.
- Check TWC thermo sensor to EACV. With engine idling, connect a wire to the TWC terminal and terminal E of the service connector, which is located on the right fender apron behind the battery.
- Check that the intermittent air from the air by-pass hose changes to a continuous discharge. Disconnect the wire from the service connector.
