Retrieving Trouble Codes

  1. Ensure battery voltage is greater than 11 volts and throttle valve is fully closed. Place transmission or transaxle in Neutral.
  2. To enter diagnostic mode, turn ignition on. DO NOT  start engine. Simultaneously push and hold in "SELECT" key and "INPUT M" keys for at least 3 seconds. See Fig 1. The letters "DIAG" will appear on the screen.
  3. After a short pause, hold in "SET" key for at least 3 seconds. If system is normal, "ENG -OK" will appear on the screen. If malfunction exists, the trouble code number will appear on the screen. If more than one number exists, there will be a 3 second pause between each number.
  4. Once trouble code is noted, turn ignition off or push any button except "SET" so that the time appears on the screen. This will exit the diagnostic mode.
  5. Compare trouble code to that listed to locate probable cause. See appropriate TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  and TROUBLE CODES & PROBABLE CAUSE tables.
