Ignition System: Distributor: Removal

  1. Disconnect electrical connector at distributor. Remove distributor cap and gasket from distributor.
  2. Rotate crankshaft pulley clockwise until groove on crankshaft pulley aligns with "0" mark on timing chain cover to position cylinder No. 1 (front cylinder) at TDC on compression stroke. Ensure rotor is properly positioned. See Figure. If rotor is not properly positioned, rotate crankshaft pulley clockwise one full revolution.
  3. Remove distributor hold-down bolt and distributor. Remove "O" ring from distributor housing.
