2000 Avalon

NOTE: Ensure key is not in ignition switch. Open and unlock driver's door. Close and lock other doors.
  1. Perform this step in 40 seconds or less: Insert key in ignition switch, then pull out. Press door lock control switch 5 times to LOCK/UNLOCK at about one-second intervals. Close then open driver's door.
  2. Perform this step in 40 seconds or less: Press door lock control switch 5 times to LOCK/UNLOCK at about one-second intervals. Insert key in ignition switch. To put system in rewrite mode, turn ignition switch from ON to LOCK positions at about one-second intervals to select mode. Turning ignition switch one time selects add mode 2 times for rewrite mode, 3 times for confirmation mode and 5 times for prohibition mode. Remove key from ignition switch.
  3. Within 3 seconds or less, the MPX body control ECU automatically performs LOCK/UNLOCK operation one time to inform operator that add mode has been selected, 2 times at one-second intervals for rewrite mode, and 5 times at one-second intervals for prohibition mode. Press remote transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK switches simultaneously within 1.5 seconds and go to next step. If confirmation mode is selected, MPX body control ECU automatically performs LOCK/UNLOCK operation 1-4 times at 2 second intervals to inform operator the number of remote transmitters that are programmed into system. If MPX body control ECU performs LOCK/UNLOCK operation 5 times, this means that no remote transmitters are programmed into system at this time.
  4. Within 3 seconds, press remote transmitter switch for more than one second. MPX body control ECU automatically performs LOCK/UNLOCK operation 1-2 times at one-second intervals to inform operator that it has received signal from remote transmitter. If LOCK/UNLOCK occurs once, registration of recognition code is completed. If LOCK/UNLOCK occurs twice, registration of recognition code was not completed. Repeat programming procedure.
  5. After programming is completed, registration of recognition code is completed after 40 seconds since MPX body control ECU response, driver's door is closed, key is inserted in ignition switch, or four recognition codes are registered at one time.
