Personal Light Does Not Work

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove and inspect bulb for broken filament. Replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
  2. Remove personal light fixture. Using DVOM, check for continuity between specified terminals. See Fig 1. With switch in DOOR position, continuity should exist between terminals No. 1 and 3. With switch in ON position, continuity should exist between terminals No. 1 and 2. With switch in OFF position, continuity should not exist between any terminals. If continuity is not as specified, replace personal light fixture. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.
  3. Check all voltage inputs to body control ECU. See BODY CONTROL ECU  under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. If any voltage inputs are not as specified, repair affected circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If all voltage inputs are as specified, substitute known-good body control ECU and retest system. If system now works properly, replace body control ECU. If system still does not work, go to next step.
  4. Check for faulty wiring between personal light connector and DOME (7.5-amp) fuse (Pink/Blue wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for faulty wiring between personal light connector and body control ECU (Green/Red wire) or ground (White/Black wire). Repair as necessary.
