Charging System: Generator: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE DRIVE BELT (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  3. REMOVE FLUID COUPLING ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the fan shroud.
    2. Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the fan shroud from the radiator.
    3. Remove the 4 nuts and disconnect the fan with fluid coupling from the vehicle at the same time.
  4. DISCONNECT VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the generator connector.
    2. Remove the terminal cap and nut, and disconnect the generator wire.
    3. Disconnect the generator wire clamp from the cord clip on the generator.
    4. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and generator.
