Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Operating the engine switch, any switches or any doors triggers related ECU and sensor communication with the CAN, which causes resistance variation.
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistances of the main wire and the branch wire.
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. - CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (MULTI-DISPLAY BRANCH WIRE)
- Disconnect the F28 multi-display connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition F28-26 (CANH) - F28-25 (CANL) Engine switch off 54 to 69 Ω NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR (CANH, CANL)
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Disconnect the F28 multi-display connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition F28-10 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω - Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
STANDARD VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition F28-1 (+B1) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V F28-2 (ACC) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 11 to 14 V F28-3 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY (See REMOVAL )
