DTC C15C1/74: Steering Angle Sensor Malfunction; DTC C15C2/74: Steering Angle Sensor B+ Malfunction [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Using the Techstream, check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2014 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEERING CONTROL ECU +BI TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E90-10 (+BI) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK STEERING CONTROL ECU (+BO TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E92-1 (+BO) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the E11 steering angle sensor connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E11-1 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E11-2 (ESS) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the E11 steering angle sensor connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E11-3 (BAT) - E11-2 (ESS) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   7 

  6. REPLACE STEERING CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] 
  7. REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] 
  8. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2014 - ]
