Please note when using any of these functions and routines that specific pre-conditions are listed that must be provided to allow these to run and complete successfully. Here is an example of pre-conditions that may be requested:

Pre-Conditions Description
1 Ignition On
2 Vehicle is stationary
3 Engine/motor not running
4 Battery supply voltage between 9V and 16V.

Ignition On is confirmed when the Start button is illuminated green.

Vehicle is stationary and in PARK gear state.

Check LV Battery voltage that is listed at top of IDS window.

6.5.5.3 Functions

ECU Reset: Restart the ECU and reset operation.

ECU Reprogramming: Flash update the latest ECU software available.

ECU Replace: When new ECU hardware is fitted this will update the ECU to the latest software and perform any necessary identification, learns and configuration routines so the ECU is ready for use in the vehicle.

Reprogramming and Replace will not be possible if the 'Scan Vehicle' has not been completed on the Health Check page as IDS needs to check the vehicle hardware and software for compatibility before replacing or reprogramming the selected ECU.

Click on the function you would like to run and IDS will show the communication with the ECU. Listed at the start of any of these functions and routines are critical vehicle conditions that must be met or the request will not be executed successfully.

The example below shows the result from running an ECU reset.

6.5.5.4 Identification

These routines are used to configure the identification of the ECU so that it matches the vehicle. Without the correct identification some of the expected features of the vehicle may not be available or the vehicle may be immobilized due to security lock.

6.5.5.5 Learns and Configurations

If hardware has been replaced or removed the vehicle and re-fitted it may be necessary to update a learn or configuration. Various routines are available and more detail can be found in the respective service instructions.

6.5.5.6 Special Functions

These special functions provide access to additional routines that are specific to some ECUs.
