Keyless Entry, Immobilizer And Anti-Theft Systems Description And Function: Notes
Keyless Entry Components:
- Lock button (1)
- Panic alarm button (2)
- Unlock button (3)
- Lights/tailgate release button (4)
The buttons have additional functionalities, depending on pressing method:
- Short press (single press)
- Double-press (pressing twice within 3 s)
- Long-press (continuous pressing for more than 15s)
Door operation:
The VF9 is equipped with flush door handles and soft close.
To open the door
- The rear part of the handle must be pushed inwards
- This folds the front part of the handle outwards and can be pulled towards you to open the door
Technical Description:
Keyless entry:
Keyless entry allows the user to lock and unlock the doors of the vehicle without using the mechanical key.
To unlock the vehicle with keyless entry, press the button on the driver's door. The smart key must be within a range of about 1 meter from the receiver antennas located in the driver's door and the tailgate.
To lock the vehicle, press the button on the driver's door handle with the smart key within 1 meter of the outside of the vehicle.
Body control module - the BCM is the main control unit for body electrical functions:
- Lighting
- Wiper/washer
- Mirrors
- Power distribution
The integrated security module covers:
- Vehicle access (locking/unlocking)
- Secure alarm
- Immobilization
- Electrical states
Immobilizer:
The immobilizer is an electrical device fitted to the vehicle which aims to deter vehicle theft by preventing the vehicle from being started without the appropriate key fob. The immobilizer functions automatically without the need for manual activation or intervention.
The immobilizer indicator is briefly displayed on the instrument panel when starting the vehicle. If the immobilizer system recognizes the key fob correctly, the indicator light turns off.
Anti-theft systems:
The alarm system automatically arms your vehicle after you lock the vehicle with the key fob or touch the sensor on the door handle.
The following scenarios will activate the alarm system:
- If any door is opened without using the key fob while the vehicle is locked
- If the tailgate is opened without using the key fob whilst the vehicle is locked
- If the vehicle hood is opened whilst the vehicle is locked.
If the alarm is activated, the lights and/or alarm siren will sound, depending on the vehicle settings. If the vehicle is paired to a C-App account, the C-App will also display a message.

Operation:
Door lock control
Passive entry function ("keyless")
- The vehicle can be accessed without pressing the smart key's buttons
- To unlock the vehicle with keyless entry, the smart key must be within an authenticate signal detection range near the car when the driver's door handle is pulled
- To lock the vehicle, if all doors are closed with smart key within an authenticate distance and no valid key is found in the cabin area, all doors will be locked
Single lock/double lock ("deadlock") function
- Press of the smart key lock button single lock (all doors and the tailgate are locked)
- Double lock is activated by pressing the lock button on the smart key a second time within 3 seconds
- A double lock isolates the interior handles from the locking mechanism (in this status, the doors can NOT be released from inside the vehicle)
Global open/close:
- Using the key, the user is able to open/close all power windows with long press actions
Key fob unlocks:
- Selection of "Driver Door" is a safety feature which when set, unlocks only the driver's door on the first press of the Smart Key unlock-button. The passenger doors are unlocked by a second press of the unlock button.
- "Easy entry" is set up by selecting the "All Doors" button in the vehicle settings: all doors and the tailgate are simultaneously unlocked by the first press of the smart key unlock button.
Auto unlock:
- Controlled in the vehicle settings menu
- If selected, doors will be automatically unlocked when the gear is changed to Park (P)
Speed control auto lock:
- Vehicle is automatically locked when a defined speed is exceeded
- Activation speed can be set in the settings menu/is preset to 10 km/h
"Driver door" selected:
- First single press on smart key button 1 or driver's door handle micro-switch unlocks drivers door only
"All Doors" (Easy entry)
- First single press on smart key button 1 or driver's door handle micro-switch unlocks all doors and tailgate simultaneously
