Multimedia System Description And Function: Notes
Multimedia System Components:
- MDU front (Multimedia Display Unit) 15, 6"
- MDU rear (Multimedia Display Unit) 8" - only PLUS version
- MHU (Multimedia Head Unit)
Technical Description:
As the main Human machine Interface (HMI), the MDU controls many functions and minimizes the number of hardware buttons. It is mounted with 2 screws onto the center of the dashboard. It integrates a capacitive touchscreen and an LC display with LED backlight. The MDU is connected to the MHU via LVDS (low voltage differential signaling) and I2C bus (via LVDS).
Front Multimedia Display Unit - MDU:
The front MDU is the responsible display and control unit of all MHU content. It operates as e-cockpit as well as multimedia device for infotainment functions and smart services. It provides information on:
- Vehicle driving status/e-cockpit
- Vehicle settings
- Infotainment functions
- Smart services
- Vehicle alerts warnings
Front MDU
General functions:
- Touch display operation, capacitive
- Display UI (User Interface) and video signals from MHU
- Change display brightness according to CAN value through MHU
- Change brightness for backlight (dimming control) of all hard key buttons (power button of MDU, etc.) on HMI.
Rear Multimedia Display Unit:
The rear MDU (only PLUS version) has only some of the functions of the front MDU. It must be activated and deactivated via the front MDU.
MDU rear functions:
- Seat control panel: seat massage, seat heating, seat ventilation
- Climate control: control rear AC (temperature, fan speed)
- Radio/media control panel
- General settings: display brightness, volume
