Idle Speed, Co Level & Ignition Timing

Ensure idle speed, CO level and base ignition timing are set to specification. If necessary, see ADJUSTMENTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.

IDLE SPEED & CO LEVEL

(1) Idle speed and fuel mixture (CO level) are not adjustable.

(1) With Scan Tester (VAG 1551) in BASIC ADJUSTMENT mode, engine oil temperature at 176°F (80°C), and engine coolant temperature sensor disconnected.

(2) Ignition timing advance is computer controlled. Information is not available from manufacturer.
