Generating Readiness Code
Ways To Generate Readiness Code - There are two ways to generate Readiness Code:
- By performing a long road test. Coolant temperature needs to be greater than 176°F (80°C). Idle, partial throttle, full throttle and overdrive, must all be attained several times. During test drive, apply full throttle until engine speed exceeds 3500 RPM. This initiates necessary relevant exhaust emission diagnostics and Readiness Code is then generated when ECM verifies readiness of tested exhaust emission components (Readiness Code is generated at regular intervals during normal driving). Read readiness code. See READING READINESS CODE . If Readiness Code displays -0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0-, Readiness Code was generated on test drive and no further Readiness Code diagnostics are necessary.
- By using scan tool and following a specific Test Procedure. See TEST PROCEDURE .
