Data Exchange Via CAN Bus, PIN Procedure

  1. Replace both control modules. Prior to adaptation, the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be stored in the new immobilizer control module. Record VIN.
  2. Connect VAS 5051. See Figure .
  3. Switch on ignition, select operating mode "Vehicle Self-Diagnosis". Select address word "25 - Immobilizer".
  4. Select right arrow button to proceed.
  5. Select "Transmitting vehicle identification number".
  6. Confirm note.
  7. Enter the vehicle's 17-digit VIN using display keypad. Select right arrow button to proceed.
  8. Confirm VIN. If VIN is correct, confirm by selecting "yes". If VIN is incorrect, select "no" and repeat PIN entry.
  9. Confirm note.
  10. End output. See END OUTPUT (FUNCTION 06)  .
  11. Select "Vehicle Self-Diagnosis". Adapt ECM. See PIN PROCEDURE - REPLACE/ADAPT ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)  .
  12. Obtain and replace complete key set. Adapt all new ignition keys. See IGNITION KEYS, ADAPTATION (FUNCTION 10)  .
