Code Control Module (Function 07)

  1. Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST). Select operating mode 1 "Rapid data transfer". Switch on ignition and enter address word 19 for "Gateway".
  2. After control module identification is displayed: Press right arrow button. Indicated on display:
    • Rapid data transfer HELP
    • Select function XX
  3. Press buttons -0- and -7- to select function 07 "Code Control Module". Indicated on display:
    • Rapid data transfer Q
    • 07 - Code Control Module
  4. Press -Q- button to confirm input. Indicated on display:
    • Code control module
    • Enter code numbers XXXXX (0-32000)
  5. Determine and enter code number. The code numbers for the control modules installed in the vehicle that are connected to the CAN-Bus must be added. See CONTROL MODULE CODE NUMBERS  .

    Automatic transmission 00001
    Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) 00002
  6. Coding example:
    • ABS + automatic transmission: 00002 + 00001 = 00003
  7. An example of values displayed are:
    • 6N0909901 Gateway K - CAN 0001
    • Coding 00003 WSC 00000
  8. Press button. Indicated on display:
    • Rapid data transfer HELP
    • Select function XX
  9. End function: Press buttons -0- and -6- to select function 06 "End Output". Indicated on display:
    • Rapid data transfer Q
    • 06 - End Output
  10. Press -Q- button to confirm input. Indicated on display:
    • Rapid data transfer Help
    • Enter address word XX
  11. The tester returns to the "Select function" mode. To decode the control module for CAN-Bus diagnostic interface, the green 32-pin connector must be disconnected at the instrument cluster.
