Main Pressure Checking: Notes
Remove noise insulation tray below engine.
Remove bolt -arrow- for main pressure hole. See Fig 1 . Always replace bolt.
Connect pressure tester VAG 1702 and tighten thumb screw.
Start engine. Bleed pressure tester VAG 1702. To do this, loosen thumb screw and tighten when bleeding is complete.
Switch off engine. Measure ATF temperature.
If VAS 5051 is used to measure ATF temperature, see Connecting Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing And Information System VAS 5051 .
If VAG 1551 is used to measure ATF temperature, see Connecting Scan Tool VAG 1551 .
Measure main pressure at idle speed using VAG 1702. For main pressure specifications, see Fig 2 .
If there are deviations from the prescribed values, see Fig 3 for possible cause.
Switch off engine.
Press fuse together and pull off solenoid valve connector (arrow). See Fig 4 .
Start engine. Measure main pressure at 2000 RPM (if possible, the main pressure test should be performed on a rolling road). See Fig 5 .
If there are deviations from the prescribed values see Fig 6 for possible cause.
After test disconnect pressure tester VAG 1702.
Install new bolt for main pressure hole and tighten to 12 Nm.
Install solenoid valve connector.
Once connector has been installed, check and erase DTC memory. See DIAGNOSIS - 01P article.
If work has been carried out using tester VAS 5051, select diagnostic function "05 - Erasing DTC memory" within the vehicle On Board Diagnostic (OBD) and confirm by pressing "OK".
Install noise insulation tray.
