Coolant Pump/Thermostat Overview

NOTE:

Coolant hose connection diagram. Refer to COOLANT HOSE CONNECTION DIAGRAM .

Hoses are secured with spring type clamps. In cases of repair only use spring type clamps.

Hose clip pliers VAS 6340 or VAS 6362 are recommended for installing spring clamps.

While installing, route the coolant hoses free of tension and without them coming into contact with other components.

The arrows on coolant pipes and coolant hoses must line up across from each other.

Always replace gaskets and seals.

  1. to the Expansion Tank Upper Connection
  2. Rear Coolant Pipe
  3. Nut
    • 20 Nm
  4. from the Heater Core
  5. to the Heater Core
  6. Coolant Pipe
  7. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  8. from the Transmission Oil Cooler
  9. Coolant Pipe, Side, Top
  10. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  11. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor -G62-
    • If necessary release the pressure in the cooling system before removing.
  12. O-ring
    • Always replace.
  13. Clip
    • Make sure it is secure.
  14. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  15. to the Radiator Upper Connection
  16. from the Auxiliary Cooler
    • If installed.
  17. to the Auxiliary Cooler
    • If installed.
  18. from the Radiator Lower Connection
  19. Check Valve
    • Pay attention to the installed position.
    • The arrow on the check valve points in the direction of flow.
  20. Coolant Pipe, Side, Bottom
  21. Bolt
    • 25 Nm
  22. to the Transmission Oil Cooler
    • If installed.
  23. Recirculation Pump -V55-
    • Attached to the accessory bracket.
    • For removal of the accessory bracket, refer to ACCESSORY BRACKET .
    • Component location of the recirculation pump. Refer to Fig 2.
  24. Bolt
    • 8 Nm
  25. Coolant Thermostat
    • Starts to open at 80°C (176°F).
    • Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT THERMOSTAT .
  26. Coolant Pipe
    • With the coolant thermostat housing.
  27. Seal
    • Always replace.
  28. Bolt
    • 8 Nm
  29. Pulley
    • For the coolant pump.
    • Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT PUMP .
  30. Bolt
    • 20 Nm
  31. Coolant Pump
    • Check for ease of movement.
    • Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT PUMP .
  32. Gasket
    • Always replace.
  33. Water Connection
  34. Bolt
    • 10 Nm
  35. from the Expansion Tank Lower Connection

The recirculation pump -arrow- is attached to the accessory bracket.

-- Remove the accessory bracket from the cylinder block. Refer to ACCESSORY BRACKET .
