Power Steering Pump, Removing And Installing: Removing
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:
- Route lines of all types (for example for fuel, hydraulic, EVAP canister system, coolant and refrigerant, brake fluid, vacuum) correctly. The original path must be followed.
- Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
-- Clamp off suction and return hose on the power steering fluid reservoir.

-- Raise the vehicle.
-- Remove the lower noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- Loosen the bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the ribbed belts. Refer to CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE (CVCA, CUUA, CUUB, DELA, DEBA, DEJA, DGMA) , CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE (CBPA, CKJA) , CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE (CNLA, CRJA) or CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE (CPLA, CPPA, CPKA, CPRA) .
-- Hold and remove the bolts -arrows- using :VAG1590 and remove the bolts -1-.
-- Remove the nut -1- and the pressure line from the power steering pump.
-- Open the spring clamp and remove the suction hose -2- from the power steering pump.
-- Remove the bolt -3-.
-- Remove bolts -arrows- and remove power steering pump -1- from retainer.
