PROCEDURE
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine/Gearbox Jack - Engine Support:T10359A
Note the following whenever working inside the engine compartment due to limited space:
- Route all lines and cables in their original locations.
- Make sure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.
Replace the self-locking nuts and bolts, gaskets, seals and O-rings.
The hose connections as well as air duct pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
Secure all hose connections with standard production hose clamps. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
When installing, bring all cable ties back to same positions.
-- Guide the engine/transmission assembly into the body.
-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the engine mount by hand all the way.
-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the transmission mount by hand until it is in position.
Only tighten the bolts to the final specification when adjusting the subframe mount. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME MOUNT .
-- Remove the :T10359A from the engine.
-- Install the driveshafts. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .
Vehicles with Manual Transmission:
-- Install the clutch slave cylinder. Refer to CLUTCH[For transmission(s) 0D9]CLUTCH [For transmission(s) 0FB] .
-- Install the cables with the cable bracket. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM [For transmission(s) 0D9]SELECTOR MECHANISM [For transmission(s) 0FB] .
Vehicles with Dual-Clutch Transmission:
-- Install and adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM [For transmission(s) 0D9]SELECTOR MECHANISM [For transmission(s) 0FB] .
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR .
-- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY .
-- Electrical connections and routing. Refer to RELAY CARRIERS, FUSE PANELS AND E-BOXES
-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Check the oil level.
-- Connect the coolant hoses.
-- Fill with coolant. Refer to Filling .
Used coolant cannot be used again.
-- Install the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME .
-- Adjust the subframe mount. Refer to SUBFRAME MOUNT, ADJUSTING .
-- Install the front wheel housing liners. Refer to WHEEL HOUSING LINER .
Risk of destroying the control module through excessive voltage.
- Do not use a charger to jump start.
-- After replacing the engine, the engine intake must be activated and the basic setting performed. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS

- Refer to OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING
- Securing engine to transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For transmission(s) 0D9]TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For transmission(s) 0FB] .
The tightening specifications only apply to lightly greased, oiled, phosphated or blackened nuts and bolts.
Additional lubricants, such as engine or transmission oil are permissible, however lubricants containing graphite are not.
Do not use any ungreased parts.
Tightening specification tolerance: ±15%.
