Power Steering Pump, Removing And Installing: Installing: Notes
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Replace the gaskets and seals.
Before installing the new power steering pump on the intake side, fill the hydraulic fluid and install it by hand until oil drains out on the high pressure side.
Hose supports and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installation.
Secure all hose connections with new hose clamps. Refer to the appropriate parts information.
-- Install the power steering pump.
-- Install the ribbed belt and then check ribbed belt alignment. Refer to CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE [For engine(s) DDSB, DDSA] or CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE [For engine(s) CVCA] or CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE [For engine(s) CDVB] or CYLINDER BLOCK, BELT PULLEY SIDE [For engine(s) CPRA, CPKA] .
Make sure the ribbed belt fits correctly in the belt pulley.
-- Bleed steering system. Refer to STEERING, BLEEDING AFTER REPLACING .
-- Check hydraulic fluid level and fill, if necessary. Refer to POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .
-- Check the steering system for leaks. Refer to STEERING, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .
