Windshield Projection Head Up Display Control Module J898, Calibrating, LHD

- Setting Device - Basic Set:VAS 6430/1A
- Calibration Board for Heads-up Display AR:VAS 721 019
The Windshield Projection Head Up Display Control Module -J898- will be called the control module in the information that follows.
Calibrate the control module, if:
- The instrument panel crossmember installation position has been changed.
- The instrument panel crossmember was removed and installed.
- The windshield was removed and installed.
- The control module has been removed and installed or replaced.
Calibration
-- Refer to DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS FRONT CAMERA R242, CALIBRATING .
-- Using the Front Information Display Control Head -J685- to adjust the control module end position by lowering it and then setting it 10 steps upward.
-- Fold down the left and right sun visors, disengage them and move them to the side.
-- Engage and center the Calibration Board for Heads-up Display AR:VAS 721 019 -1- on the sun visors center bearing -2-.
-- Remove the windshield projection cover. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL DECORATIVE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Perform the "Switch off test pattern" function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
-- Check the position of the test picture through the hole on the calibration board on the driver side -1-.
Vehicles with incorrect position of the test pattern
Tip
When adjusting manually, it might be that not all of the contours of the HUD test picture can be positioned well on the Setting Device:VAS 6430 . This is due to the tolerances in the HUD system and the distortion resulting from this. In this case, primarily the elements in the center area of the picture should be as well aligned as possible. Variances with the elements in the outer area of the picture are permitted.
-- Adjust the test image -1- using the setting device -A-, via the adjusting screws -3- at the control module -2-, to make it align as closely as possible.
