Anti-Lock Brake System: Testing: Notes
NOTE:
Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for ABS system is an extremely reliable component. Prior to replacing ECU all other system components and related wiring should be tested. Preliminary to all testing, check fuses No. 2 and 12 in main fuse/relay panel. Check 80-amp fuse at top of right side wheel well. Check 10-amp transient surge protector fuse in right side spare wheel well area in trunk. Check that all wires and ground connections are clean and tight. Poor contact can cause a variety of problems.
To prepare for testing, turn ignition switch to the "OFF" position. Remove cover from hydraulic modulator. Remove connector from ECU by depressing lock spring and swinging out connector. Unless otherwise stated in testing procedure, ECU connector is to remain unplugged. Consult wiring diagram while performing tests. Check ECU connector terminals through holes in side of connector using minimum force. Connector terminal numbers are molded into side of connector.
