Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

Fig 1: Identifying Shift Solenoid S1

Shift solenoids S2 and S1 operate in tandem to control gear-shifting. The solenoids are controlled by amplifiers in the transmission control module (TCM). The transmission control module (TCM) opens the amplifiers to activate the solenoids and sends a voltage through the circuit. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0002 is stored if the control module registers that there is no signal in circuit for solenoid S1 when the solenoid is activated.

Fault symptom[s]

HINT: Harsh shifting - due to disabled line pressure solenoid STH control. This results in constant maximum line pressure and leads to harsher shifting and gear engagement.

HINT: No shifting - because the transmission control module (TCM) prevents activation of the solenoids. This stops gear-shifting. The transmission only operates in 3rd gear in positions 1 and 2, 4th gear in positions D and 3, and reverse gear in position R. Shifting can only be carried out manually between 3rd, 4th and reverse gears.
